Our house is just outside the lovely market town of Greve in Chianti. This is a wonderful place to spend a few days off the beaten track, relaxing in the sunshine, listening to the birdsong and watching the stars.
Our house is an old Tuscan farmhouse surrounded by olive groves and woodland. We bought the house several years ago and have been doing it up ourselves every since whilst living in it! Now, much to our relief the house is finished and we are very proud of the little haven of tranquility we have created here which although it is tucked away in the depths of the Chianti countryside it is still close enough to civilisation to not feel totally isolated from the rest of the world!
The historic village of Montefioralle is a few minutes walk away. There are two very good restaurants and a bar in the village, as well as two places for wine tasting - Chianti wine produced from grapes grown on the slopes of Montefioralle.
The market town of Greve in Chianti is a twenty minute walk (or two minute drive) from our house. This charming town has a weekly market every Saturday in the picturesque square, and there are many excellent restaurants, bars and shops making the town a great base for visiting all of the Chianti area as well as the rest of Tuscany. There are regular buses for Florence, and the city of Siena is just an hour away.
The room we rent out in our house is simply furnished and light and sunny. There is a mosquito net and a fan for when it is really hot. In the little room separating the bedroom and the bathroom there is a fridge, an electric kettle, crockery and cutlery - everything guests need to prepare their own breakfasts or light meals. Our guests are also welcome to use the barbeque on the terrace outside.
The bathroom has a shower and a bidet and towels, soap and a hairdryer are provided.
IMPORTANT - Like many beautiful, hidden places in the Chianti countryside, our house is reached by a 2km long dirt road, that is, a road without asphalt. These roads can often be quite bumpy and dusty and many people are not happy to drive along them. We think it is well worth the ride to reach our little house, and we drive along the road many times a day, but if you are not comfortable driving along these types of roads then please consider that there is no other way of reaching our house!
If you are travelling by public transport then we are always happy to come and pick you up from the bus stop in Greve and bring you up to our house.
ABOUT US - we are an English/Italian family of four elements: Mum, Dad and two teenagers. We also have a couple of very friendly dogs, quite a few cats and all around the house there is a vast selection of wildlife that can be encountered each day - hares, foxes, deer, porcupines, badgers and sometimes wild boar. We're delighted to welcome visitors to share this unique and wonderful place which offers guests a rustic getaway from the hectic tourist trails of Tuscany.

Reviews of this property
Julia's apartment is pretty great, if a little isolated. After exploring Chianti each day, we generally didn't feel like hiking down and up the hill to Greve. I mean, it's totally doable, but not very relaxing.
So most evenings we had a BBQ in the garden (there are no kitchen facilities, but there is a BBQ). I enjoyed all of the cats and dogs and kittens - very cute. The mosquitoes were a nuisance though.
Overall we very much enjoyed our stay. Julia's a great host, friendly & easy-going, but at the same time we always felt that we had some privacy (the holiday flat is mostly separated from the main house, and it has it's own terrace/garden area.
