It was pretty nice in Bernadettes appartement in Aix. It was pretty clean and cosy and we felt very comfortable. It was pretty nice to stay there for a whole week because there are many interesting trips to do in the surrounding area. I hope I will return there one day:)
Merci beaucoup!
I stayed at Bernadette's apartment this time a year ago, and can I say how wonderful it was! Bernadette is the best host. She was so welcoming, accommodating and made me feel very much at home. She went above a beyond Thank you Bernadette! Yes the place is small - it's a studio, but has everything you need in an ideal location. It was perfect. Merci again Val :-)
Once accepted rent, relations with Bernadette, e-mails and phone were really friendly, we were eager to meet and it was, as we expected, a welcoming person, warm and friendly. We immediately felt at home in his lovely studio in the heart of old Aix, what a pleasure to live in one of these old houses, while we enjoyed in Bernadette, a favorite for the stairs, the view on the roofs and the morning sun ... The studio is bright, nicely decorated without fuss, quite to our taste, we really enjoyed our stay and recommend this place (except for addicts wi-fi, which is not our case) and thank you to Bernadette a next time
Small and lovely apartment, very comfortable and stylish furnishings in a quiet street in the old town of Aix. Under the balcony is a lovely fountain. The sofa converts to a handle into a ready made bed. Very pleasant and likeable and trustworthy reception of Bernadette. We would like to come back, highly recommended, thank you!
My wife and I stayed at this rather nice apartment on Rue Loubon in the heart of Aix-en-Provence for three nights in mid August 2013 as part of a two week rail trip around France. All was well with the Wimdu booking service and communications with the host worked well. We were warmly welcomed and by the first afternoon we felt that we had done rather well with our first Wimdu home stay trial. However after the first night my wife awoke with what we originally thought were some very bad mosquito bites. The usual repellants and creams were ineffective after a second night with the windows firmly shut. My wife"s condition deteriorated during the day and we sought advice from two French doctors and two English doctors after our return home a few days later. The bites were not from mosquitos but almost certainly due the the pattern and severity bites from bed bugs or possibly animal fleas. After the initial verdict we left immediately and moved back to Marseille a day early. The rest of our trip was also spoiled and now some eight days later my wife has just about recovered from the damage to her skin and her fever has subsided. We paid £194 pounds for this accommodation and I paid out about the same for doctor's fees and medicines together with an extra night's accommodation. My very reasonable claim for reimbursement has been rejected - at least so far! My advice to other's tempted to "stay like a local" is the old legal phrase "Caveat Emptor" or buyer beware. Whilst the website may be slick and your apartment might meet your expectations, it looks as if, when something goes wrong, you are on your own. Proper hotels and apart hotels properly compensate for bed bug attacks as can be seem from the British press. Whilst my case is compelling that my wife was bitten by bed bugs or fleas it is in the end circumstantial. It could not have happened elsewhere. I hold Wimdu and the host liable and I will continue to pursue my case via travel websites and general media. It seems madness from a business perspective to leave a customer outraged over this attack on his wife's person - perhaps akin to a restaurant giving a customer food poisoning; maybe you cannot prove absolutely that they poisoned you but by jove you won't be back and will kick up a mighty fuss if they don't apologise and compensate you.
