Pattaya is a hive of activity - this beautiful bay attracts the adventurous and the daring. First popularised by American G.I’s on R’n’R during the Vietnam War, Pattaya has swelled to become one of the premier holiday destinations in South East Asia. With a naturally stunning bay and an action packed township, you can be sure to have quite an experience - whether you’re after wild nights or some luxe relaxation. Though popularly regarded as a party town, Pattaya has actually cleaned up significantly in recent years and now has a healthy balance of more upmarket and family friendly resorts, spas and restaurants as well as the clubs and go-go bars that made its name.
Dive into the mayhem on Walking Street, the intense hub of nightlife in Pattaya. After dark it becomes one big neon-lit street party - where clubs, massage parlours, performers and go-go bars compete for attention. It’s effectively also Pattaya’s red light district, so if you are after more upmarket clubbing experience, try the clubs on Pattaya Beach Road instead. The Pattaya Cabaret shows are glamourous and endlessly entertaining - hundreds of ladyboy performers in incredible costumes put on a breathtaking show that’s like Broadway on steroids. Don't worry if that all sounds overwhelming - there is a lot more to Pattaya than disco's and risque bars. Kids and adults alike will love The Flight of the Gibbon, an exhilarating journey through the tree tops of the jungle just outside Pattaya. The course includes a three kilometre zipline with a jungle obstacle course, swings, bridges and platforms from which to immerse yourself in the rich splendour of the jungle. For a traditional Thai experience, head to The Four Regions Floating Market, a step back in time and a novel way to shop. A small fee will get you a four-person boat and a guide, and you can cruise around on the small canals checking out the stalls on boats, or stepping off into one of the built sections representing different parts of Thailand. Keen photographers will love the colourful displays of flowers, spices and handicrafts. After exploring the sights of Pattaya, treat yourself to a break at a day spa - they are abundant and provide excellent treatments and service at a fraction of the price in Australia. Or just sit back, relax and enjoy that huge, sunny beach.
