OTHER HIDDEN GEMS AND IDEAS FOR A DAY OUT
SUTTON HOUSE MUSEUM (FREE)
Situated on Homerton High Street and Built in 1535 by prominent courtier of Henry VIII, Sir Ralph Sadleir, Sutton House retains much of the atmosphere of a Tudor home despite some alterations by later occupants, including a succession of merchants, Huguenot silkweavers, and squatters. Discover oak-panelled rooms, original carved fireplaces and a charming courtyard.
INTERESTING LOCAL MUSEUMS
THE GEFFRYE MUSEM KINGSLAND RD DALSTON (FREE)
The Geffrye explores the home and the way people live. The collections show how homes have been used and furnished over the past 400 years, reflecting changes in society and behaviour as well as style, fashion and taste. A series of period rooms lead visitors on a walk through time from 17th century oak furniture and panelling, past muted Georgian elegance and eclectic Victorian style, to 20th century modernity and contemporary living.
QUEEN ELIZABETH PARK (LONDON OLYMPIC PARK)
Situated just a 30 minute walk along the beautiful River Lea you Swim in the wake of champions in the Olympic-sized swimming pool at the London Aquatics Centre, where members of the public can book sessions in both the training and competition pools, or experience the thrill of four different types of cycling at the Lee Valley VeloPark.
Work out in the state-of-the-art gym in the Copper Box Arena, which is also home to London's only professional basketball team, the London Lions. Enjoy a game of tennis or battle it out on Union Jack-inspired hockey pitches at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.
Visitors can also learn about the history of the area and London 2012 by joining a boat tour or guided walking trail. The park is also home to the Tumbling Bay Playground and Timber Lodge café, tree-lined promenades and interactive water fountains.
Those with a head for heights can take a trip up to the top of Britain's tallest sculpture, the ArcelorMittal Orbit by Anish Kapoor, which offers fantastic views across London.
Sited not far from the Olympic park, is London’s First Royal Park, Victoria Park. It sprang to life as a Royal Park but became municipal in 1887; it's rougher around the edges than its western counterparts and thus a great expanse to kick back and let nature revitalise you. Vicky Park as it is known to locals, is wonderful for youngsters too: the V&A Playground is equipped with swings etc, and the fantastically designed Pools Playground encourages creative play. Wildlife includes moorhens, grey and Canada geese and squirrels, while, by the lake, you'll find The Pavilion Café serves tasty, locally sourced food from breakfast to tea-time. In recent years the park has hosted the Underage Festival and Field Day, and every November park-goers in their thousands are treated to a wildly ambitious theatrical fireworks display which is laid on by Tower Hamlets Council.
Situated just a 5 minute walk from the flat, Springfield Park is a way to leave London for a few hours without the bother of actually travelling. A scenic wander or cycle along the Lea River towpath is a bucolic way to get there. Beautiful views across the River Lea and the Walthamstow Marshes were an ideal canvas for veteran Victorian park designer and chief officer of parks JJ Sexby, who also designed Brockwell Park. One of the elegant original houses, White Lodge Mansion, survives; it's now the Spark Café and rangers' office.

Reviews of this property
Appartement très bien situé et calme, avec des bus réguliers qui desservent les principaux sites de Londres.
Tout est bien présent, en particulier les prises qui facilitent grandement les choses et le déjeuner pour tous les matins.
Thanks a lot David and hope another time in this wonderful town of London!
Sehr schöne und ruhige Gegend.
David total entspannt und super freundlich.
Mit der overground in 20 Minuten an der Liverpool Station.
Pub und Supermarkt in maximal 10 gehminuten entfernt.
Very nice appartment with good shower and nice kitchen. We had a pleasant stay, thank you David.
Location, location, location!
Pleasant, comfortable, compact ground-floor apartment in a quiet area of London that is just three stops on the fast train from Liverpool Street station.
Well-connected to all London transport services and a reliable local mini-cab company next to the railway station.
There's a good local co-op just minutes away on foot, and great high street shopping at Stoke Newington 15 minutes away by bus for an excellent butcher, fishmonger, Sainsbury's etc.
The block of flats is part of a modern development that backs directly onto the riverside with lovely walk and cycling possibilities along the towpaths or into Walthamstow Marshes literally on the doorstep.
The flat has everything you will need for your stay including a generous welcome 'breakfast' pack and a mountain of loo rolls! It's also stocked with all the bits and bobs you may need, that all add up, but are often such a waste buying for just a few days; tinfoil, clingwrap, washing-up liquid etc. There's also lots of information on London including up to date tourist information and a couple of A-Zs.
We misread David's advice and went to the Anchor and Hope (Fuller's) for Sunday lunch, only to find they don't do food. However, a there's a stall set up right next door on the tow path called Angel's Delight preparing Jamaican specialities, goat and chicken curry, jerk chicken etc. Excellent food hygiene, taste and value for money (around £7 each) served in takeaway format at the pubs outdoor tables where you can watch the boats and the wildlife drift by.
As a host, David is friendly and helpful, attentive but not intrusive. A highly recommended letting. We had a ball!
